On this shoot, I got two lightsabers
which was certainly a highlight
Who do I think I am?
My name’s Jack. I’ve been making films my whole life, from a stretchy lizard eating a Lego man to things I’m more proud of. I cut my teeth making YouTube videos, one of which led me to actually cutting a tooth after stumbling around in the dark, which I hope goes to show you my level of commitment. YouTube also taught me how to make videos perform online. Since, I've stumbled through the better lit streets of London, and built a career creating social-first and editorial video across fashion, culture and music.
I spent several years working with sustainable fashion brand Converted Closet, helping shape its visual identity through Instagram-native and editorial content. After, I worked at Cloud9Media, where I worked as a director, camera op, editor, animator and GFX artist on films for purpose-driven organisations. Along the way I’ve directed, shot, animated and edited everything from documentaries and campaigns to music videos and a reel of a pickled onion eating competition.
I’m a pretty resourceful guy and have been described as a beaver on more than one occasion. This is accurate. I like figuring things out, working end-to-end, and making things better than they started. I also have River in my name. Fundamentally though, I do this because I love the art. This is something you can exploit. I cannot release a project without first pouring my heart and soul into it.
Somehow, I now have over ten years’ experience in filmmaking. I basically just want to make really beautiful stuff all the time. When I’m not making films, I make music with my band Sweet Unrest, and the music videos I make for the band can be seen as digital guinea pigs for the work I actually charge for.
I bet you've never read a bio with so many furry animal analogies. You've been working with the wrong guy.
I don't always direct in a dress, just often
